K1 No. 2005, Sleights, July 1975

K1 2-6-0 No. 2005 passes through Sleights station with a special from Whitby to Battersby in July 1975. The track was still double from Whitby to Sleights, but had already been singled from Sleights to Grosmont. The goods yard was still in use for coal traffic at this time. The line has since been singled and the near platform taken out of use. The building on this platform was removed and re-used at Grosmont where it is now the Booking Office. The station building survives as a private house and the signalbox still stands, though derelict. Slide No. 13305.
