Wrexham & Shropshire, Part 2
From Monday 28th April 2008 W&S started their full passenger services, initially with five return services each weekday, four on Saturdays and three on Sundays. To start with, trains ran with just three coaches, still hired in, topped and tailed with Class 67 diesel locos, some in dedicated livery and others from EWS/DBS. Once the DVTs were refurbished, these became part of the operation and only one loco was used on the trains. Eventually, after a much longer period than anticipated, WSMR's own refurbished stock was introduced onto the services, to much acclaim, these being some of the best coaching stock anywhere on the network. The railway rapidly gained a very favourable reputation for the quality of its services and catering and also for the friendliness of its staff - generally, nothing was too much trouble!
