Dawlish, Seawall, 29th March 2014
With under a week to go to the re-opening date of 4th April 2014, the seawall and station area at Dawlish was still a major worksite as the engineering team completed the task of repairing the breaches caused by the storms in early February. The worst breach was at the point where the row of old sea containers can be seen, these were filled with rocks and ballast as a temporary barrier while the works continued behind them. The whole area was closed off to the public from Dawlish Warren to Kennaway Tunnel, including the foorbridges over the railway. The line was re-opened on schedule on 4th April. 10:44, Saturday 29th March 2014. Digital Image No. IGMP3077-2.
