London Transport Steam
June 2011 marked 40 years since the end of steam traction on London Transport, the last steam-hauled train running on Sunday 6th June 1971. This also marked the end of regular steam running on "main lines" in the UK, almost three years after the end of steam on BR, though some steam had also continued for a while in Northern Ireland. Photos of some of the daylight operations from the mid - 1960s until the last day. Most are taken with my Voigtländer Vito CLR Camera, later ones with my first SLR, a Pentax S1a. After arriving just over one hour late from Ruislip depot into platform 5 at Harrow-on-the-Hill, Met 150 Train 750 reversed into the siding between the running lines and then set back into platform 4. It is now departing just under one hour late with 0-4-4T Met No. 1 leading, with GWR 0-6-0PT No. 9466, 20142 and 20227 heading for Amersham. 10:33, Saturday 25th May 2013.
