London Transport Steam
June 2011 marked 40 years since the end of steam traction on London Transport, the last steam-hauled train running on Sunday 6th June 1971. This also marked the end of regular steam running on "main lines" in the UK, almost three years after the end of steam on BR, though some steam had also continued for a while in Northern Ireland. Photos of some of the daylight operations from the mid - 1960s until the last day. Most are taken with my Voigtländer Vito CLR Camera, later ones with my first SLR, a Pentax S1a. Met 150 Light Engines,Harrow-on-the-Hill, Train 750, 25th May 2013
Having arrived at Harrow-on-the-Hill into platform 5 just over one hour late, Train 746 then reversed into the siding, now with Met No. 1 leading the entourage with 9466, 20142 and 20227. The locos then had to set back into platform 4 before reversing again to make their way to Amersham ready to "ring the changes" on haulage of the following special trains. 10:22, Saturday 25th May 2013.
