London Transport Steam
June 2011 marked 40 years since the end of steam traction on London Transport, the last steam-hauled train running on Sunday 6th June 1971. This also marked the end of regular steam running on "main lines" in the UK, almost three years after the end of steam on BR, though some steam had also continued for a while in Northern Ireland. Photos of some of the daylight operations from the mid - 1960s until the last day. Most are taken with my Voigtländer Vito CLR Camera, later ones with my first SLR, a Pentax S1a. All colour photos on Agfa CT18 film. A very small sample to start with, many more to add...

A familiar location but before the old canal wharf was regenerated into today's leisure marina, the old infrastructure gradually falling apart. An unidentified LT 0-6-0PT has run round its train and watered at Watford station and is now making its way to the tip at Croxley with the spoil train from Neasden. Date unknown, but a misty, murky sort of day, around June 1968!
