In a scene almost incomprehensible in today's climate of Health & Safety awareness, life goes on in the yards at Tanahabang station, just south of Djakarta. Almost lost in the sea of people, a train from Rangkasbetung is arriving behind B-B diesel No. BB300 16 (30 engines built by Krupp in 1958/59, works numbers 3727-3756) and has stopped in the yard. All the tracks see some use, but there is a sort of "tent-city" over the tracks on the left, while market stalls are set up elsewhere between the tracks, other people literally living on top of the railway! The skyline is dominated by a new sports stadium built for the Asian Games. Tuesday 17th July 1973. Slide No. 11174.
