Pictures taken on the former Southern Railway lines, apart from those with their own dedicated gallery such as the Isle of Wight lines. From the last days of steam to more recent times, oldest photos first.

30106, Swanage, 30th May 1960
On the afternoon of Monday 30th May 1960, LSWR M7 Class 2P 0-4-4T No. 30106 has just arrived at Swanage station with the "push-pull" Autotrain from Wareham, to where it will soon return. Designed by Drummond and introduced from March 1897, 105 engines were built up until 1911. This engine was built at Nine Elms Works as LWSR No. 106 and entered service from March 1905. It spent the whole of its BR career allocated to Bournemouth MPD and was renumbered to 30106 from December 1948. Withdrawn during November 1960 it was stored at Eastleigh Works until March 1961 when it was scrapped. This is one of my earliest photos, taken on the family Box Brownie camera.
