In somewhat threatening looking weather conditions, B16/2 Class 4-6-0 No. 61435 has now reached the station precincts at Hawes and is about to be uncoupled from the train to run round. The loco inspector has climbed up onto the smokebox to remove the RCTS headboard and headcode lamps, prior to replacing them on the back of the tender for the run back towards Northallerton. This train, the RCTS "North Yorkshireman" Railtour, was the last passenger train to reach Hawes before the track was lifted. Hopefully, the Wensleydale Railway will once again run into Hawes, if their plans reach fruition. Saturday 25th April 1964. Slide No. 609.
