Up DMU, Grosmont, March 1973
A Class 101 2 car DMU is approaching Grosmont station with a train from Whitby to Darlington in March 1973. The track between here and Whitby was in the process of being singled, the down line on the left of the picture already out of use. There was formerly a track leading into the goods yard to the right of the signal box, hence the very narrow structure at the lower level and what was the main line to Pickering and Malton is on the far right, now taken over by the NYMR, then still in its infancy. Slide No. 10974.
