China, November 2002
Subsequent to a message being left on this site asking "where is the Chinese steam?" I've made a start on adding it to the gallery! I was able to participate in the tour organized by "Steam in Paradise" for readers of "The Railway Magazine" in November 2002, and a very memorable and brilliant tour it was! Photos taken using Pentax Z-70 and MZ-6 SLR cameras with a variety of Pentax lenses on Kodachrome 200 slide film.

JS5029, Daqing, 7th November 2002
Early morning at Daqing loco depot on the Tiefa coal-mining system. On the left is the then sole-remaining JS Class 2-8-2 on the system, No. JS5029, whilst beyond is SY 2-8-2 No. SY0860. To the right is the steam crane used for coaling the locos. The sun is coming up but it was a rather cold morning! 06:00, Thursday 7th November 2002. Slide No. 30920.
