"Black 5" 4-6-0 No. 5305 emerges from under the train shed at York station as it gets under way with the "Scarborough Spa Express", initially bound for Leeds via Harrogate. Due to depart at 08:45, it was running 45 minutes late as the loco needed to be turned for the duty. The train ran several days a week during the summer as a joint venture between BR and Scarborough Council and was a very good day out and excellent value for money! It ran from York - Harrogate - Leeds - York - Scarborough - York - Leeds - Harrogate - York, finally due back in York at 21:23. Sunday 26th August 1984. Slide No. 16537.
