46229 "Duchess of Hamilton", York, 10th May 1980
LMS Stanier "Princess Coronation" Class 4-6-2 No. 46229 "Duchess of Hamilton", part of the National Railway Museum's National Collection, was restored to working order by 1980, after many years on display at Butlin's Holiday Camp in Minehead. Saturday 10th May 1980 saw its inaugural runs back on the main line with two trips from York around the "Leeds Circle", running as "The Limited Edition" for the Friends of the National Railway Museum. The engine is seen here reversing past York station with an LNWR coach prior to coupling up to the train for the first run. Slide No. 14893.
