British Industrial Systems
As steam traction was run down on BR lines, so interest in industrial systems rose. There were many places around the country with a wealth of ancient and modern machines still hard at work in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Here are just a few to start with, the pictures are in chronological order, oldest first. Plenty more to be added!

"Monarch", Bowaters Sittingbourne, 21st September 1963
A rare beast at Bowaters Railway at Sittingbourne was "Monarch", a Bagnall version of the Meyer type articulated 0-4-4-0T, No. 3024/1953. Due to lack of space between the frames above the rear power bogie it had a marine type boiler rather than the conventional deep firebox. It later moved to the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway for preservation. It is seen here at the Sittingbourne end of the line coupled to a train of bogie wagons. Saturday 21st September 1963. Slide No. 410.
