BLS Training Day, 23rd February 2019
The Branch Line Society has an on-going programme of training sessions for their stewards, with regard to health & safety, good practice and many other aspects of the railway environment. Saturday 23rd February 2019 saw another day at the North Tyneside Steam Railway when a morning session undertaken in manual handling techniques was given by Ian Hughes of Green Dragon Rail. The late morning and afternoon sessions were hosted by Jonathan Moran of the Samaritans, on Managing Suicidal Contacts, both very valuable skills. Many thanks to all involved in this project. As usual, a few shots to start with, more to add as I try to catch-up with everything!

BLS Training, NTSR, 23rd February 2019
Much of Saturday 23rd February was spent in training sessions for BLS Stewards at the Stephenson Railway Museum/North Tyneside Railway before a visit to the Woodhorn Narrow Gauge Railway in the evening. After the initial session on manual handling theory conducted by Ian Hughes of Green Dragon Rail in the classroom, everyone is now outside at 09:10 for some practical training. This involved moving some of the bits of equipment normally used by the BLS to the Middle Engine Lane station platform and loading it safely onto a train. Digital Image No. IGMP43685.
