After departing from Platform 4 at Carlisle station, the BLS "Gourock Growler" tour train crossed to the Down Main Line at Carlisle North Junction and is now approaching Caldew Junction to cross to the Down Goods Line, as seen from the rear cab of 68018 at 09:02½ on Saturday 27th April 2019. Too the right, on thefar side of the River Caldew is the Carlisle Old Brewery established originally in 1756, these buildings dating from the 19th Century. It was nationalised in 1916 and came under state management until sold to Theakston's in 1974. Brewing ceased there from 1987 and parts of the building were converted into student accommodation, now further conversions have taken place for private dwellings. Digital Image No. IGMP47099.
