BLS "Crompton Weekend", 7th to 9th March 2020
Three days of trips behind various Class 33 "Cromptons" and a Class 47, two enhanced positioning moves either side of the main "Devonian Crompton" tour on Sunday 8th March 2020. Run in conjunction with West Coast Railways, Network Rail and 71A Locomotive Group, the tours were raising funds for the Help for Heroes Charity and also for Tommy's. All three days were excellent though I wasn't able to do the full trip on any of them due to logistics - it also turned out to be my last efforts for a while due to the Covid-19 outbreak curtailing activities. BLS 'Park Royal Parkinson', 33209, Paddington Platform 1, 9th March 2020
WCRC Class 33 No. 33029 had just led the ECS for the BLS 'Park Royal Parkinson' tour into Paddington station's Platform 1, running as 5Z39, 10:43 from Southall WCR, with 47746 on the rear. The train now stands awaiting departure time as 1Z40, 12:27 to Lancaster. Alongside is GWR No. 800 019 'Joy Lofthouse' in Platform 2, forming 1W02, the 11:50 to Hereford, though this was cancelled due to an incident down the line. 11:45¼, Monday 9th March 2020.
