Utterly filthy LMS "Black 5" 4-6-0 No. 45267 sits in the platform at Marylebone station awaiting departure time with 1D35, the 16:38 semi-fast train to Nottingham Victoria. Judging by the scrawled chalk marks on the smokebox door, it wasn't too good a rider at this stage! Friday 1st July 1966.

GWR "Castle" Class 4-6-0 No. 7032 "Denbigh Castle" comes under the bridge at West Ruislip station with an up express from Birmingham bound for Paddington, Saturday 15th September 1962. B&W Negative No. 192.
In weak November sunshine, "Hall" class 4-6-0 No. 6926 "Holkham Hall" potters about at Birmingham Snow Hill as station pilot. Saturday 21st November 1964. Slide No. 1107.
GWR "Castle" class 4-6-0 No. 5056 "Earl of Powis" is no longer in charge of express passenger trains, relegated to working humble goods trains. Here, it toils up the grade into Birmingham Snow Hill station from the Wolverhamton direction with a long train of wagons in tow. The engine has lost its smokebox numberplates, though its cabside number and nameplates are still in place. Saturday 21st November 1964. Slide No. 1108.
GWR "Hall" class 4-6-0 No. 5988 "Bostock Hall" pounds up the gradient into Birmingham Snow Hill station with a long fitted freight from the Wolverhampton direction on the afternoon of Saturday 21st November 1964. Slide No. 1110.
GWR 57xx class 0-6-0PT No. 4635 is giving everything it's got as it labours up the gradient towards Birmingham Snow Hill station with a long train of mineral wagons from the Wolverhampton direction, in the fading light on the afternoon of Saturday 21st November 1964. Slide No. 1112.
